Description: Cleaners are found everywhere; in our homes, schools, and businesses. They are the ones that ensure that we can operate in a hygienic environment. We need someone that is able to clean everywhere and everything, removing dust, spills, garbage and other unwanted particles. The suitable candidate will work in the home environment and will be required to perform other tasks.

Our Cleaners usually performs many of the following tasks:
• Getting rid of garbage
• Removing stains from carpets and upholstery
• Washing linen
• Taking care of pest and insects
• Implementing health and safety regulations
• Handling chemicals and cleaning agents

Job Title: Housing Assistant

Responsible to: Project Manager
Purpose of the Post

To work as part of a team providing information, support, advice and temporary accommodation to single homeless people.
To take part in a shift rota in order to provide staff cover during the evenings, at weekends, and bank holidays.

Principle Tasks

To deal sensitively but firmly with any incidents within the scheme, and to assist in ensuring that Tenant conform to the occupancy agreement and house rules.

To offer basic advice to service users as appropriate, under the direction of the Services Manager.

To assist in ensuring that the building, furniture, fittings and equipment is maintained to a high standard, reporting any defects and ensuring Health and Safety procedures are carried out. This may include among other tasks, preparing rooms for re-let, laundry, and other domestic duties.

To work with Housing Support workers to interview and induct referrals into the scheme, following set guidance and procedures.

Deal with incoming post and associated procedures. Assist in the receipt and recording of weekly charges.

To assist in ensuring that the Project’s administrative procedures are followed, including the recording of information.

Promote and assist in Service User Involvement activities.

To take part in a rota system of shift duties, to ensure that service delivery is maintained in a consistent way, in the evenings, at night, at weekends and on bank holidays.

To attend regular supervision sessions with line manager, to participate in staff meetings as required, and to undertake training as agreed with the Services Manager.

To undertake such other duties as may be required, commensurate with this level of responsibility.


Person Specification

Job Title: Housing Assistant
Work or other experience.

Experience of working in Supported Housing or
Experience of working with people with multiple needs or
Experience of record keeping and basic admin work

Housing related qualifications are essential

Desirable vocational training in:
Health and Safety
Social welfare / homelessness

Basic knowledge of benefits
Basic literacy and numeracy
Good understanding of confidentiality
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to form appropriate professional relationships
